Here’s How to Solve Paper Jams on Your Copier and Printer

Everyone’s been there: You’re in the middle of an important project, and your copier or printer suddenly starts making a strange noise. Next thing you know, you’re dealing with a paper jam. Like anyone else, you rely on your copier and printer to keep your office running smoothly. But what if they start acting up and jamming paper?

Here are six steps to solve paper jams on your copier and printer:

1. Check the printer for any loose paper or debris causing the jam.

2. Open the front cover and remove any jammed paper from the printer.

3. If there is still a jam, turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall outlet.

4. Remove all the paper from the inside of the printer and check for any stuck pieces.

5. Clean the rollers and other internal parts with a dry cloth.

6. Connect the printer and turn it on – if there is still a jam, repeat steps 2-5.

If you’ve ever struggled to get that pesky piece of paper out, you’ll appreciate these tips for solving paper jams. Read on to learn more about these six steps in detail.

1. Check the printer for any loose paper or debris causing the jam.

Look at the printer itself and see if any loose paper or debris around could be causing the jam. Check under and around the machine and in the input tray. Remove any foreign objects you find and see if that clears them up.

2. Open the front cover and remove any jammed paper from the printer.

If there is still a jam, the next step is to open up the front cover of the printer. Next, remove any jammed paper you see. Be careful doing so. Always remember not to tear or rip the paper while removing it. As you proceed with this step, keep an eye out for any small pieces of paper stuck inside the machine.

3. If there is still a jam, turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall outlet.

Turn off the printer if you still have trouble with a paper jam after steps 1 and 2. After doing so, unplug it from the wall outlet. Doing so will help to prevent any further damage to the machine. Remember that printers are delicate electronic devices, so it’s essential to be careful when handling them.

4. Remove all the paper from the inside of the printer and check for any stuck pieces.

Once you’ve turned off and unplugged the printer, it’s time to take a closer look at the inside of the machine. Remove all paper from the input and the output tray. Check all the rollers and other moving parts for any stuck pieces of paper. If you see any, use a pair of tweezers to remove them carefully.

5. Clean the rollers and other internal parts with a dry cloth.

The next step is cleaning out all the rollers and other internal parts with a dry cloth. Doing so will help to remove any build-up that could be causing the jam. Be sure to pay special attention to the feed rollers, as they are often the culprit behind paper jams.

6. Connect the printer and turn it on – if there is still a jam, repeat steps 2-5.

After you’ve followed all these steps, plug in the printer and turn it on; however, if there is still a jam, repeat steps 2-5 until you clear it.
